Judicial Capital will be henceforth at Kurnool if the Bill passes through which was tabled this morning by Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath. In TDP Rule, Rayalseema people asked just for Highcourt Bench but TDP refused the same. Today, High Court itself is being moved subject to Court Approval.
Constitution has given discretionary powers to government to take a decision on that. A resolution taken today will be conveyed to the High Court who will review and approve the same. Government will need to then convey same to Governor who will convey again to Centre. Centre will after consultation with Supreme Court convey to President to notify fresh change.
The President had constituted Amaravati High Court earlier under Sec 30(1)(a)&Sec 31(1)&(2) of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. Present High Court complex has been termed a interim complex till permanent court is ready to include several sub-courts.
Though logistically, Kurnool is only 212 kms, the road from Vijayawada to Hyderabad is 6 lane highway for entire 275 Km stretch. This am sure now will immediately get a huge uplift to 6 lane soon. Kurnool reduces distance by 60 Kms. In a 6 lane highway, it would hardly take 2:30 hrs to 3 hrs to reach Kurnool. This will provide Huge Fillup to Kurnool. To those who regularly go back to Hyderabad on weekends, this would save more time.
