High School Reunions are always fun. SFS High School 1992 batch outgoing students had a reunion in Tanuku. This was their third gettogether in the past 30 years.
St. Francis De Sales High School in Tanuku has a well established history of serving Tanuku town for three decades by providing quality education to children. The 1992 outgoing batch students decided to have a gettogether to meet all their teachers including their principal, Fr.Mani Malana who arrived in Tanuku for this unique occasion. Their biology madam, Caramel Madam also came driving from Vijayawada. The students had a live interaction session with the teachers and then they individually felicitated the teachers with shawls, mementoes, clothes and providing respective award commitment to the school.
AP Tabloid spoke with Uma Desu, coordinator for the event. He said despite the poor turnout, the cause this gettogether took up got the message conveyed to school that they are really committed to the endowment awards announced in the name of their ex.principal, Fr.Mani Malana and their subject teachers. Uma Desu explained that there were 5 awards in the name of teachers apart from 2 competitions being funded by 2 1992 batch students. Ushakanthi, a 1992 batch student is sponsoring the Chakka Suryanarayana Award for Girl Excellence.
Uma Desu is sponsoring IntelliIndia General Knowledge Competition. Chandrasekhar is sponsoring the Ramalingeswara Rao award for best telugu poem recital. Similar awards, the Satyavathi Award for Hindi Excellence, Kennedy Award for Sports Excellence- boys, Caramel awards for girl excellence are also being sponsored by other students. The commitment letters for these awards were handed over to Fr.Shyju, the current principal of the school. Fr.Shyju expressed his appreciation for the awards instituted.
Fr.Mani said that establishing an endowment and announcing these awards was a Noble task and he is happy that the seeds he sowed 30 yrs back came to harvest now. Fr.Mani also said that having awards in the name of deceased students is a rarity and he is happy that students did not forget the dead. Ushakanthi & Chakka Bhaskar arranged the food. Uma Desu said that NV Rajesh, Ramakanth and Rakesh covered up for the missing people with their lively interactions with teachers and other students. Telugu Sir, Sri Ramalingeswara Rao electrified the gathering with his welcoming invocation and reciting Sri Suktam at the end.
