Vijaya Dasami celebrations are going on in both Telugu states.
In North, Dusshera culminates with burning of Ravana Effigy. Watching Ravan burn in Ramlila Maidan is a experience which will last a lifetime. Children wonder if the real ram actually comes and shoots an arrow. I remember the photo where Prime Minister shot the arrow in Ramlila grounds in lucknow in 2016. The ruler of India, PM Modi also lighted the effigy last year at Ramlila Grounds in Delhi. This year, he is expected to light it at Dwarka in Delhi.
In South, Dusshera is Durga Puja & Vijaya Dasami marks the end of 10 day Durga PUJA. People also do initiate new businesses on Vijaya Dasami Day which is considered the most auspicious day of the Year
Ayudha puja & Sami tree Puja is popular across India. People clean their vehicles, tools, decorate them and worship them. This derives from Arjuna's retrieving his tools from the hole in the Sami Tree after completing his incognito exile of 1 year. Sami Tree is worshipped across India on Dasami day.
Whichever way festivals are celebrated, families get together and celebrate it. It is a reunion for joint families far away. Children are given 10 days holidays to spend together. The time spent with grandparents those 10 days is something that no artificial amusement can give to a family. It pains when the family is not together on Dusshera/Sankranti and other festivals.
Staying together on Festival Day is most important thing one has to learn.
