Sye Raa was a attempt to tell a historical story about Renati Suryudu, Majjera Narasimha Reddy more popularly known as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. The movie started certainly with that purpose but there were many irrelevant storylines that could have been avoided in first half making it a bit boring.
With a budget of 300+ crores, one would think that lot of research must have gone into fine-tuning History but like all historical stories that have come recently, lot of fiction was mixed into telling the story.
Syeraa tells a folklore common in Seema region but unknown to rest of telugu regions. It was a story waiting to be told but they should have avoided Jhansi Bhai referring to this as inspiration at war timing. Still the movie is carried by Chiranjeevi who lives into the role like Nagarjuna lived in Rajanna. He was only Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy not Chiranjeevi in the movie.
Good choreography made wars interesting but we could have used more story with fewer wars. The story sure put Chiranjeevi back into the top league after a failure in Khaidi 150. For all those who predicted that Chiranjeevi is spent force will bite dust now.
