Education Reforms are still a long way in Andhra Pradesh. Instead of addressing the core problem of education, governments are shifting from mother tongue led mode of instruction to english medium mode of instruction which will lead to more unemployment in the near future.
Educational Model in Andhra Pradesh depends on a core activity based syllabus which in pvt.schools comes from some private syllabus manufacturers. The best ones still remain the ones which stick to state designed/ NCERT syllabus.
The core problem is the belief in rote learning and scant respect for freedom of the child. Schools run a hectic six days a week with loads of homework which children carry back and forth in heavy bags. Though central government restrains bag size and homeworks, they are best followed in the breach rather than practiced.
Schools also gobble up second saturday holidays and attribute it to syllabus not getting completed in time. Political Bandhs take up some time unnaturally with school closures. Games Periods are merged into academic timetables. Arts& Sports take a backseat into fulfilling school's rush to get good name and fame coupled with parents over aspirations for their children.
Instead of tempering them, governments resort to moves like move away from mothertongue mode of instruction which actually makes them more suitable for understanding basic concepts. All the businesses in the world finally end up in selling in native languages rather than English. English is used only in some segments of service sector. Skill development is ignored in schools leading them not equipped even for basic repairs at home.
