Far reaching reforms in education have been achieved in Telangana in education. Most importantly, there is no homework in primary sections. This would lead to more space spent with parents for the children.
The often most heard complaint of heavy school bags has been dealt a strong blow by TELANGANA govt by reducing the school bag size. Schools have been threatened with penalties if this wasn’t complied by. Parents and children are happy since earlier despite their concerns, this issue was never acted upon by Govt.
In ANDHRA, there is more talk but no action since education monopoly is held by a Cabinet Minister and Chaitanya Group, which belongs to same community as TDP Leaders. As such, moves such as these are discouraged since they thrive on instilling fear and complexity in children from childhood. Not having homework will make children independent which is what these monopoly colleges detest.
Despite attaining top ranks in big colleges, the students reading and writing skills are at worst. In this area, there is no reading culture in schools and hardly any school has a library.
