Caste is a weapon for everyone in society, from politicians to leftists to even religious leaders. Political Parties used caste to divide society and these divisions have become so entrenched that even in 4G image,caste affront is not tolerated.
When we are born, we dont even have a name but in less than 7 years,the child knows that he is different caste. A first grader school kid in a reputed school in Andhra asked his parents why they didn't tell him that they shouldn't be watching movies of a reputed actor who was not their caste. These parents changed their kids school the next academic year. In some colleges, even today the first bench is reserved for only one caste. Opportunities to participate in inter-college competitions are reserved for one caste only. Casteism is so entrenched that children from other castes feel inferior by the time they grow up.
Many do not return from abroad to escape these caste wars yet even there, caste has divided society. There are different associations dominating from the two forward castes of Andhra. The rivalry is so high that some mediation had to be done politically to avoid conflicts. Recently, a software employee complained of discrimination from his boss only because he belonged to a rival caste. Casteism is so deep rooted that even living in America for so many years does not change people.
Politicians thrive on these caste differences by instigating more hatred to polarize caste towards them.
