Schools are expected to open in September as part of Unlocking by Central Government. 55 Crore students have been shielded away the past couple of months by educational institutions remaining closed. Now in the process of unlocking, the risk of contracting virus by such a huge mass of population remains high. The dependent sector, parents moving children, all will constitute a huge exposure to infection by Virus.
The proposal of having few children in the class is fine but wearing masks is not appropriate. This should be reviewed in the Indian context with majority of the schools having 40-60 students/class. Few hrs/week, alternate classes for few at a time, alternate days will add to logistics nightmare since auto rickshaw, school buses all will be running several times instead of fixed timings. It wont be economical for the logistics providers when it is not the parents.
Many parents have opted to stay put the current academic year while others have to homeschooling for this academic year.
