11 Deaths have occurred in Vizag LG Polymers Styrene gas leakage. 348 people have been hospitalized. Govt has announced 1 Cr ex-gratia for the dead.
Govt has evacuated from effected villages bringing situation under control.
Andhra medical college reported that sick victims are now stable and will recover by 8th May afternoon. Gas Leak happened on May 7th morning. Govt is airlifting 500 kilograms of para-tertiary butyl catechol (PTBC) from Damn. PTBC is a neutralising agent.
Indian Navy had designed "portable multi-feed oxygen manifold" equipment which allows doctors to provide oxygen to several patients at a time. This was designed for Corona but King George Hospital Doctors are using it now for the gas leak victims. Indian Navy had given five such equipment to KGH Hospital.
This happened at a time when the recovery rate has improved in Andhra and infection rate has come down. Andhra has 149361 people so far and registered only 38 deaths among the 1833 positive cases. Andhra has a excellent volunteer system with six lakh volunteers having complete handle on the health of people. There is a volunteer for every fifty people in Andhra Pradesh.
